Golf Club Staff Bags

As the touring golf pros play their competitive rounds, they are accompanied by two very important accessories; the indispensable caddy and their staff bag. The tour staff bag is an important part of the golfer’s arsenal. It easily carries the full component of fourteen clubs and has lots of pockets for golf balls, golf shoes, hats, tees and all the other little pieces of equipment that get the touring pros through their rounds. As the pro strolls down the fairway, the caddy carries the staff bag that, loaded, can easily weigh over fifty pounds.

A golf club staff bag is rarely carried by the average golfer, but happily placed on the golf cart. The more adventurous walkers usually use a Carry Golf Bag. However, if a “hold absolutely everything” golf bag is needed, staff bags do fit nicely on the average golf cart.

Where do you get a Golf Club Staff Bag? All themajor brands certainly have them in their online stores or at your friendly pro shop. Favorite choices are those from Callaway, Cleveland, Cobra, Ping, Taylor Made, Titleist and Wilson. Wilson is now offering golf bags made in China at, we understand, very
competitive prices. Staff bags are also made by well known golf bag manufactures like Mizuno and Ogio.

You can also have a custom staff bag made with your name, company logo or some other significant decoration.

I use a staff bag and it becomes a happy home for everything I use on the golf course. In addition to my full complement of golf clubs, there are pockets and storage areas for balls, tees, markers and my trusty distance gauge as well as golf gloves and shoes and several other golfing accessories. A large pocket in the bottom even has room for my rain gear, an extra sweater or two and there is even space for a nutrition bar, snacks and a tasty beverage.

While it’s a bit heavy from the car to the clubhouse, once the staff bag is on the cart, weight doesn’t matter.

One slight problem is that all these clubs and golf accessories have a tendency to take up permanent residence unless a conscious effort is made to take time to empty the contents and remove all the wrappers, empties, ripped golf gloves and all the other nasty things that have taken up residence over the past few months.

Since you have spent a couple hundred dollars on this beauty, this is also the perfect time to clean up the staff bag. The best way to do this is to put a little dishwashing soap and water in a container. Spray the bag with a hose or wipe it with a wet rag to get it wet. Then, using an old towel or wash cloth aggressively clean the bag. Take some time and get rid of any dirt pockets that can build up in any nooks and crannies. Be more careful on any embroidered or velour covered areas.

Once your golf staff bag is cleaned to your satisfaction, prepare it for drying. This is also a great time to, literally, get it back into shape. Fill the pockets and storage areas of your staff golf bag with paper of regular towels. Don’t overfill and make sure all the zippers close and the snaps snap. Let it dry for twenty four hours, indoors or in a shady area to prevent any fading. You can also use leather or vinyl cleaners, but good old soap and water works just fine.

The next day, remove the towels and presto, its almost like brand new.

If you can handle the weight and don’t forget it needs a little loving care and feeding, your staff golf bag can be your best friend on the golf course.

North Carolinas golf communities are as good (or better) than most other states offerings.

If you love golf, the best places as a retiree or to relocate in North Carolina are its golf paradises of Aberdeen, Pinehurst and Southern Pines. Should you choose to reside in the Pinewild Country Club community, you are within striking distance of all three. It is where you can play forty eight holes of golf of the highest quality. There are 2 full courses, the first planned by Gene Hamm and the 2nd by the legendary Gary Player, a nine-hole par three course, and 3 holes just tfor practice within the Pinewild Golf Academy. Enjoy some tennis or the pool, social events such as Fall Fest & Jazz Fest, and the cuisine at the clubhouse.

The most recent Zagats Golf Guide judged the Tigers Eye course at this Carolina golf club community of Ocean Ridge Plantation one of the most excellent in North Carolina. The community comprises over 3,000 acres and approximately 2,800 homes, a majority of them are single family homes. Five clubhouses are there with restaurants and conference rooms and over 50 clubs and organizations including book clubs, card games and bible study groups, indoor or outdoor pools, tennis courts, and a gymnasium providing Pilates, aerobics lessons and yoga.

Up the hills, you have the Trillium North Carolina golf club community. It offers an 18-hole course, designed by Morris Hatalsky with a pro-shop, classes and workshops. Enjoy a round of Garden Golf, (hike, chip, putt course), trek, play tennis inside or outside, go to the fitness center, sauna or massage studio. There are weekly classes from fly fishing to watercolor painting and gardening. You may go fishing or for a boat-ride on Lake Glenvilles fifteen hundred acres, or enjoy an evening cocktail and hors doeuvres cruise, the epicurean delights of the clubhouse, or grilled food. Inhabitants of this community have complementary facilities at Chinquapin, which is 10 miles away.

Situated just south of Wilmington is the Winding River Plantation. It mixes fantastic surrounding, living opportunities and inexpensive golf. This North Carolina golf club’s joining fees are $6,000, with all the amenities you would expect for far more. They include tennis courts, walking and biking trails, bridge games, a clubhouse with informal dining, exercise classes, pools, a Fred Couples designed 27 hole course, gym, an exclusive beach club with a walkway to Holden Beach, a pro shop, putting green and practice area.

Another North Carolina golf club community near the coast is Cypress Landing, located in Chocowinity. Using the 222 slip marina on the Pamlico River, you may gain entry to the Pamlico Sound and Atlantic Ocean. Bill Love designed the communitys eighteen-hole course, driving range, putting green, pro-shop and practice area. The facilities comprise an eighteen thousand square foot gym, pool, grill style restaurant, bar, library, lounge and patio. Youll also have craft lessons, card games and book and garden clubs.

In North Carolina, Zagats 2007-2008 guide to Americas Top Golf Courses, ranks Pinehurst No. 2, Pinehurst No. 8, Pine Needles Lodge, Tigers Eye, and Oyster Bay the five best golf courses in the state.

Custom Golf Club: Custom fitting golf clubs

September 12, 2011 by

Every golfer’s physical capability and swing is distinctive. Many of today’s best golf clubs can be custom fit for lie angle, shaft type and length, grip type and size. Custom fitting golf clubs involves several easy measurements and a quick self-assessment of your game. This custom golf club has become more than a fad that even not so professional golfers test its waters.

Custom fitting is the process for tailoring a golf club to suit your personal swing.

Whatever your level, with a custom golf club the aim is to ensure that if you do make a good swing, the club will be square at impact and should produce a straight shot.

Custom Golf Club How To’s:

To custom fit your golf clubs, you need to know: your gender (male or female); your height in your stockings or socks; the distance from your wrist (where it bends) to the floor with your shoes off; your age; your handicap or skill level; how fast you swing a golf club; what club you use at the 150 yard marker.

Gender is used to put you into the correct fitting scale for custom golf clubs. The golf industry uses different definitions of “standard length” for men and women.

Your height and the distance in inches from your wrist to the floor are used together to determine the length of a custom golf club that is appropriate for you. The starting point for club length can vary up to 3 ½-inch ranging from ladies to men plus 1 ½-inch. A tall person with long arms can very easily require shorter clubs than an average height person with short arms. About 80 percent of golfers are standard length.

Your age, handicap (if you happen to have one), self-assessed skill level, estimated golf swing speed and club you use at the 150 yard marker are all combined to determined the custom golf club’s shaft flex that is appropriate for you.

Custom fitting can fix your slice. If you slice the ball it means that the toe of the club is leading into the ball which opens the face of the club. That may be down to a swing fault, but it could be because the club is too flat. So as part of the custom fitting process you can make the custom golf club more upright to help with this. This will mean that the toe of the club will be slightly off the ground at address to compensate.

There are different methods of fitting according to custom golf club manufacturers but ultimately they are all trying to improve your game. To begin with simple measurements such as wrist-to-floor, height and hand size are taken and will point you to the right size club and at what angle it should be to the ground. Then you will take a club and hit some balls. One method is to place impact tape on the bottom of the custom golf club and an impact board on the floor.

As you hit the ball the board will leave a mark on the tape showing whether the heel or the toe of the custom golf club is striking the floor first. The resulting mark will show whether the club face needs to be flatter or more upright. Then things get a bit more advanced. Analysis equipment can measure everything from your club speed to the side spin of the ball so that you can get maximum distance from your shot. You can also measure the launch angle of the ball, how much backspin you generate and impact efficiency – all which affect distance. The angle in which the custom golf club approaches the ball and the sidespin of it can help fix your game too.

Rather than bringing down your old clubs, it might be better to start from scratch. It’s a big misconception that custom fitting is only for good golfers. Anyone can benefit. That said, if you plan to upgrade a new set of clubs with the same manufacturer they may be able to adjust your old set to become custom golf clubs.

Custom fitting won’t cure all your bad shots. Coaching will sort that out. But if you do make a good swing, then the custom golf club will arrive correctly at impact and should produce a straight shot at your target. That alone will save shots during a round.

Lastly, custom fitting is often free of charge. But it is usually on the condition that you buy some clubs once you’ve been fitted. So it really depends on what your budget is. If you’re prepared to buy a new set of clubs it’s definitely worth getting fitted.

Shopping For Golf Nuts

Anyone who enjoys golf is a fantastic person for whom to buy gifts. The huge range of golf merchandise out there on the market compares very favorably with just about every other sport. There are clubs, bags, balls and tees for a start, but these really do scratch the surface of what you can give a keen golfer for a birthday, Christmas or anniversary present. The only limit seems to be your imagination. The best presents are often the most personal ones – so give a little thought to what the golfer in your life would like to receive.

Joke presents are a very popular niche, and can make for the most memorable presents. Many people find that the old jokes – like the exploding golf ball – are the best, as they can be given completely straight-faced as a “little token present” and when used on the golf course or driving range will suddenly do the job they were meant to do, much to the amusement of all concerned.

Then again, there are several pieces of golf merchandise that can enable the keen golfer to get a little nostalgia or experience the greatest moments, the best courses, and the finest players in golf history. A video game, for example, lets them pit their wits against the best golfers in the world on the most testing courses of all. A DVD will let them see how the top players have managed to build their game, and can even give them some tips on how to get the best swing. Finally, a few books on golfing tips can be invaluable to someone who takes their game very seriously.

A Last Resort?

One thing that can be said for golf is that it has a ready-attached leisure sector to make sure that once you’re off the course, the fun doesn’t need to stop. The clubhouse – often referred to as “the 19th hole” by golfers keen to distract attention from the fact that they are planning to drink hard liquor – is part of golfing tradition. The most popular sporting breaks – at least for participants – are either skiing holidays or golf breaks, but golf surely has the head start because there are more countries with golf courses than with mountain ranges. Some of the world’s best sporting breaks can be had at golf resorts.

Good golf resorts will have a lot more to them than the golf course. Remember, you may well need to persuade an entire family to come with you on this holiday, so the fact that most come with an attached spa is good for those purposes, as is the fact that there are countless leisure activities that the children can partake in. The modern golf resorts do take account of the fact that there will be families visiting, and are often built close to the nearest city, which allows easy transport from the resort to the shopping centers.

The location of the best golf resorts depends a great deal on what the visitor is hoping for from their golf break. Some of the better courses may well be found some distance away from the best entertainment sectors – but any resourceful golfer will find a way to enjoy the best in golf and the best nightlife.

The Right Shoes With The Right Outfit?

There is probably a very long and very pointless conversation to be had about the footwear that differentiates the most popular sports. You could not take to the basketball court in football cleats, and if you tried playing baseball in tennis shoes you would find it pretty agitating. So what about golf shoes? Are they in a league of their own? Some people would say that looking at a golf professional’s outfit makes it hard to really care about the shoes, when the trousers are so awful – but the shoes need to be right too, and they are subtly individualized for their sport.

The shoes worn by golfers have small spikes on the soles, which are not dissimilar to the cleats found on the soles of football shoes. These are there for reasons of traction, allowing you to get good grip on the ground when you are preparing to hit a shot. The reason that the spikes are so much smaller than football cleats is because much of the game of golf is spent on the green trying to putt. If you walked on the green in football shoes, the surface would be destroyed in no time at all.

Cheap golf shoes are easy to find on the Internet if you know where to look. The best shoes will last for some considerable time, and will stay comfortable even over the five to six miles you can easily walk during a typical game of golf – longer if you keep driving into the rough.
